JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The lawyer for Greenville Superintendent Leeson Taylor says the school board has fired Taylor, and that a meeting Tuesday with the school board was Taylor's appeal.
Brandon Dorsey told The Associated Press Thursday that the board has given Taylor a termination letter.
Dorian Turner, the board's attorney, says board members voted Oct. 31 to fire Taylor. She declines to provide a copy of the termination letter, saying it's a confidential personnel record.
Turner says that under Taylor's contract, the board has 10 business days to notify Taylor of its decision on his appeal.
Taylor has been on paid leave since Oct. 13, after a video emerged of a teacher dragging a student by the hair. The teacher was fired, charged with a misdemeanor and could lose her teaching license.
