Four anti-abortion personhood resolutions introduced into the Legislature have died in committee.
Atlee Breland of Parents Against Personhood wrote on the group's blog that this means personhood will not be on the November ballot, as some abortion opponents had hoped.
"Barring extreme legislative dirty tricks, Mississippi personhood is done for 2012," Breland wrote.
Yesterday was the last day for bills to make it out of committee in the house where they originated. Those that did not pass their respective committees are now considered dead.
The proposed resolutions, HC 61, HC 80, SC 555 and SC 574, were variations on Initiative 26, which failed to pass a statewide referendum vote last fall.
