This week's big movie release is a sports flick, "Seabiscuit" (not to be confused with the Shirley Temple movie). The reviews are mostly good, but the Washington Post's Stephen Hunter says the movie's populist fable is at odds with the real story, and Slate's David Edelstein says what's missing from "Seabiscuit" is ... Seabiscuit.
Speaking of sports movies, The (St. Paul, Minn.) Pioneer Press offers a list of the 50 greatest sports movies of all time. In Dr. S' opinion, this list is deeply flawed. Consider these omissions: "Knute Rockne All-American," "The Stratton Story," "Heaven Can Wait," "Elmer The Great," "Alibi Ike" and "It Happens Every Spring." "The Last Boy Scout" makes it and "White Men Can't Jump" didn't?
