Yellowcard on Fast Track As One of America's Biggest Bands

(New York, NY) - In 2003, road-tested underground heroes Yellowcard released their major label debut, Ocean Avenue. Just over a year later they now stand as one of America's biggest, fastest-growing bands...with no slowing in sight.

The quintet, founded in 1997, was by then a veteran of hundreds of live shows at all-ages clubs, punk dives, VFW halls, living rooms and back yards. They were among the leading lights in a national grassroots scene, winning fans in city after city with their passion, upbeat vibe, a flawless ability to make a personal connection with their audience and the distinction of a classically trained violinist in their ranks. And when they were first added to the punk-centric Vans Warped Tour two years ago, they found an even larger community that welcomed them with full-blown adulation.

At the time of its release, Ocean Avenue was the finest recorded moment from an underground band with a lot of potential. Rolling Stone called it "a winning combination of punk, pop and classical." But it soon grew into something much, much bigger -- now RIAA certified platinum and growing, spawning three hit singles, "Buzzworthy" MTV videos, appearances everywhere from "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to MTV's "TRL" to a video premiere on Fox's "The O.C.," extensive tours of the U.S., Europe and Asia, and yes, a triumphant mainstage slot on this year's Vans Warped Tour.

Most recently Yellowcard's Marc Webb-directed video for hit single "Ocean Avenue" has been named a finalist for the "Viewers' Choice Award" for the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, in addition to nominations for "Best New Artist in a Video" and "MTV2 Award," as well as a confirmed performance during the live broadcast, which will air this Sunday, August 29th at 8 pm EST.

Third single "Only One" is now a Modern Rock hit and will go to Mainstream Top 40 on August 31st. The Phil Harder-directed video, which stars frontman Ryan Key and actress Rachel Miner, is top ten at MTV's "TRL" and can be seen here:
