Please join Gov. William Winter and Fred Banks, Parents for Public Schools and the JFP tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m., for a Jackson-Area Town Meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education School Desegregation. discuss "Jackson's past, present, and future. Panel discussion led by former U.S. attorney Brad Pigott with former desegregation attorney (and judge) Fred Banks, former Hinds County Circuit Judge Robert Gibbs, former Jackson school board members Ollye Shirley and Sarah Jane Alston, and closing with remarks by former Gov. William Winter. (All participants were involved in school desegregation in Mississippi.) A presentation by Lanier HIgh School students will open the event. Join us tonight (free, of course) at the Miss. Dept. of Education Auditorium, Central High School Building, 359 N. West St. , downtown. Also sponsored by 100 Black Men and The Links of Jackson.
