This year's Loose Leaf Collection Program will begin Monday, November 15, 2004. The Loose Leaf Collection Program allows homeowners to dispose of leaves and pine straw by simply raking them to the curb, where vacuum trucks will come along and remove the leaves, alleviating the need for bagging. The Loose Leaf Collection Schedule is as follows: Residents who receive garbage pickup on Tuesdays and Fridays will have their leaves collected during the following periods:
· November 15 - 17
· December 15-17
· January 17-19
Residents who receive garbage pickup on Wednesdays and Saturdays will have their leaves collected during the following periods:
· November 18-24
· December 20-27
· January 20- February 4
Residents who receive garbage pickup on Mondays and Thursdays will have their leaves collected during the following periods:
· November 25 — December 14
· December 28 — January 14
· February 7 — 25
Residents should begin raking leaves and pine straw a day or two before the trucks are scheduled to be in their area.
The following rules must be adhered to in order to get loose leaves and pine straw picked up.
· Leaves and pine straw must be free of limbs, tree clippings, cans, trash or other debris.
· Leaves and pine straw should be no more than five feet from the curb.
· Leaves and pine straw must not be placed in the gutter or street where they can become a traffic hazard or clog storm drains.
· Leaves and pine straw must not be placed in or over storm water inlets, because that could lead to flash flooding.
Residents are not required to participate in the Loose Leaf Collection Program. Residents can still place their leaves and straw in garbage bags to have them picked up along with regular household garbage. After the Loose Leaf Collection Program ends, all leaves and pine straw will have to be containerized in order to be collected.
