Sgt. Lil' Pookie Peterz III, of the Mr. Cholly battalion, spent 15 grueling months in Iraq fighting the terrorists to preserve and maintain the free world. After completing a de-briefing session, he is sent home from his tour of duty. Our hero anticipates a gracious return home to ticker-tape parades, honorary hero's honors, his assistant manager position at the Crunchie Burga World, the Range Rover with the 27-inch rims, a loyal fiancée, and a loving family who has to give him the sad news.
Grandma Pookie laments on her grandson's return: "I don't know if the boy can handle the reality. Look what happened to our babies after they survived Vietnam. They came home to face the reality of that Jonnie Taylor song. War is not kind to the ones who fought in it. I hope the government does right by Lil Pookie, or he will have another war on his hands when he comes home."
On his flight home, Lil' Pookie has a vision. He sees Shaniqua, his childhood sweetheart, riding in his Range Rover with her new boyfriend who was promoted to assistant manager at Crunchie Burga World. A military chant Lil' Pookie marched to during boot camp is the soundtrack to this haunting vision.
