[verbatim from Nancy Loome] According to a report in today's Clarion Ledger, Senate Appropriations Chair Jack Gordon implied to the full Senate that other state agencies, specifically colleges and universities, must be shortchanged in order to fully fund the MAEP. THIS IS NOT THE POSITION OF THE COALITION, nor is it the position of other education supporters. Here's what you can do right now....
Please call your senator and the Senate leadership today and make clear our position: Education supporters are not in favor of robbing other state agencies to fund K-12 education. We are asking our legislators to generate enough revenue to adequately educate K-12 children without devastating other state agencies. The House has proposed a plan to accomplish this end. The Senate has rejected it.
Please call Senator Gordon and help him to better understand our message.
Also contact your own Senator, the Lt. Governor and Senate President Pro Tem
Travis Little.
