With less than three weeks to go in Jackson's mayoral race, Police Chief Robert Moore on Wednesday released some news that his boss probably will use in his quest for a third term.
Police department statistics show felony crimes, which include homicide, robbery, assault and burglary, fell 7 percent during the first quarter of the year. From Jan. 1-March 31, police documented 2,991 property and violent crimes, down from the 3,211 reported in 2004.
