The Clarion-Ledger reports:
Jackson mayoral candidate Frank Melton walked out of a forum Thursday at the Jackson Medical Mall, angering its organizers and surprising residents.
Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr.'s campaign had previously arranged with debate sponsors from the Jackson Association of Neighborhoods to have James Covington sit in as a surrogate until the mayor could arrive.
But at the forum's opening, Melton objected and, after a huddle with his campaign, left the room.
