JACKSON, Miss. -- A Thursday night forum involving the Democratic candidates running for Jackson mayor was heated.
Frank Melton agreed to take part in a community forum, along with Mayor Harvey Johnson and Annell Smith. But at the last minute, Melton walked out after he realized the mayor was using a "stand-in."
Instead of candid talk about the issues, the crowd got a glimpse of political fireworks. The organizer of the forum, Jackson Association of Neighborhoods spokesman Darrel Dobson, was angry.
"This board has been disrespected tonight," he said. "You citizens have been disrespected tonight.
