Relient K has announced an impressive run of tour dates headlining venues from 1000-3000 in capacity, marking the first extensive outing in support of the band's newly released fourth album Mmhmm. The itinerary, set to begin in early February, will see the Canton, Ohio-based group venturing from Florida to California on what will be only their third tour as headliners. The pop punk trio averages 150-200 live dates annually.
Mmhmm debuted week of release ( November 2) at #15 on the Billboard 200
album chart, and has to date sold over 200,000. The debut sales
numbers
effectively doubled those set in 2003 by the debut of Relient K's
Billboard
Top 40 third album, Two Lefts Don't Make A Right...But Three Do. To
date,
Mmhmm has already recorded sales of more than 200,000.
The Mmhmm release was further highlighted by a #1 debut on Billboard's
Internet album chart. The band remains one of the most popular artists
on
the heavily trafficked purevolume.com (see
www.purevolume.com/relientk
where they recently passed the rare 1 million plays threshold. The
Pure
Volume site is now streaming a trio of tracks from Mmhmm.
All told, Relient K has sold over one million albums, with their Grammy
Award-nominated Two Lefts Don't Make A Right...But Three Do and 2001's
The
Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek both nearing RIAA gold status.
The 14-track Mmhmm, released in conjunction with the independent Gotee
Records label, was produced by Mark Townsend and Relient K lead
vocalist/guitarist Matt Thiessen, with various tracks mixed by Tom
Lord-Alge
(Oasis, Rolling Stones). "Be My Escape," the album's first single,
will ship nationwide to all formats in late February.
