The JFP's Talk of Jackson section has a couple really dumb errors this week. (As a result, two writers are currently hanging in the newsroom from their toenails. Don't tell anyone.) Here are the errors:
The Atlanta Braves are NOT moving to Jackson. Pearl will be home to the Mississippi Braves, a Class AA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Doctor S is on the warpath over this one, yelling at us to keep sports in the back of the @#$% book where it @#$%^&* belongs.
We not only screwed the pooch on sports, but on the other topic near and dear to Mississippians' hearts: beauty pageants. Jalin Wood has already competed for the crown of "Miss America" in Atlanta City ... and lost.

Sorry to get your hopes up, Dude. ;-) It'll still be pretty cool, though, I hear.

Isn't it a mistake to say that Jalin Wood *lost* the Miss America contest simply because she didn't win? That seems overly harsh. I would think that simply being invited to the Miss America contest means that she's a winner. I think if beauty pageants are really near and dear to your heart, then you'd acknowledge that the ultimate aim isn't to declare a loser, per se, but, in fact, to further the cause of world peace.

Honey-chile, we are losing our minds over here in our Best of Jackson bat-cave! It's all for good, though. It's the bestest best of jackson ever. Talk more soon. Don't worry, sunshine. Same bat cave, same bat time.

Can't wait to see it. Does anyone know where to find JFP on the Hinds-Raymond campus? Or even as far as Vicksburg, the ahem, home of the Ms. MS. Pageant, which is , let me tell you, one of THE best televised state pageants in the whole country, I've been told.

We do distribute in Vicksburg, in a number of places on Washington Street (try Attic Gallery or Borrello's) as well as in the outlet mall, the Ameristar hotel lobby and a number of smaller motels around. Let me know if there's a particular place you'd like to see it. Hmmm....we should be on Hinds-Raymond, but it's tough to find a central location there. Any recommendations?

Hinds-Raymond... I'd try the cafeteria or the plaza. Of course, there's always the art department.

There's also Little Big Store, if they're still open(if talking about Raymond in general), and there's a few boutiques in the square.

how about public libraries? JFP used to be at the Vicksburg Lib, but now it's only Bayous and whatever. will check the Attic more often, sometimes it's a week or two behind. and don't like popping into motels, casinos etc.. thankfully it's online, but I don't get to see the ads. yes, the ads. at Raymond the library gets lots of traffic and has a large entry, also a large PC room downstairs. worth a try. and, I was just at Rainbow, hoped to get the latest issue - all gone!
