February 18, 2005 – Cartoon Basketball Registration Ends
Boys, ages 9-12 and 15-17, and girls, ages 9-12 and 13-14, may register by team. Teams must have a cartoon or other mascot nickname. For example, previous teams have been the T-Devils, Hot Wheels, Raptors and the Bulldogs.
All games are played on Saturdays and the season culminates with a city championship and league tournament.

February 28, 2005 – Spring Break Enhancement Program Registration Begins
The City of Jackson Department of Parks and Recreation announces that several of its city facilities will be open during spring break week for a Spring Break Enhancement Program for youth ages 7-12. Similar to the city's popular Summer Enhancement Program, this program will require registration, as there are a limited number of openings at each of the centers. Registration is free and will be conducted at the Jackson Medical Mall between the hours of 9:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. beginning February 28th until slots are filled:
The program will run from March 21-25, and children may report to any of the above facilities from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Parents must bring children before 9:00 a.m. Participants must bring their own lunch and snacks.
Various supervised educational and recreational activities will be planned throughout the day.

The City of Jackson Parks and Recreation Programming Division announces that the 2005 Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Battlefield Park (953 Porter Street).
In past years the Annual Easter Egg hunt has drawn several thousand children and parents. "This is one of our most popular events," said Alonzo Banks, Recreation Coordinator for the City of Jackson Department of Parks and Recreation, "It seems to get bigger and bigger every year."
The City of Jackson Department of Parks and Recreation will host this year's egg hunt free of charge for children ages 2-10. The Hunt will begin for all ages at promptly 12:00 noon. Registration is required.

April 20, 2005 – Summer Enrichment Program Registration for Jackson Residents Begins
The Summer Enhancement Program is a low-cost program that runs the duration of the summer (June 6 – August 5, 2005) during work hours (7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) – a double bonus for parents. A favorite among children as well, they get to experience guest speakers, stimulating and educational activities, arts and crafts and recreational projects, and receive a daily lunch and snack – all at a very low cost of $45 for the nine week program! Similar programs around the metro area cost up to $50 a week for only 3 hours of programming a day, no meals included.
Jackson residents ages 7-12 and 13-16 may register at the Jackson Medical Mall (350 West Woodrow Wilson), Center Court. Participants must bring proof of residence (i.e. utility bill or driver's license) and a copy of your child's 121 Immunization Compliance Form. On April 25th, registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to the general public (including non-residents) until all programs are filled.
