MARDI GRAS GIRL'S NITE OUT TO FEATURE EDEN BRENT AND THE VENUS MISSION. Greenville blues artist Eden Brent opens an exciting evening in downtown Jackson on Thursday, June 30th at Mardi Gras Restaurant and nightclub from 5-10 pm at MG's piano jazz lounge. Brent, who is considered the top female blues artist in the country, brings her high octane piano and vocal talents to Mardi Gras for the popular Thursday Girl's Nite Out promotion, co-sponsored by Q 105.1 radio. Named "Little Boogaloo" by the legendary bluesman, Boogaloo Ames, Brent has gained a huge following at Mardi Gras and has performed nationally with BB King as well as other lead blues artists.
Taking the stage in the nightclub from 9 until 1 will be Memphis-based
The Venus Mission, a popular performing group that features fantastic
female front vocals performing great 80's standards as the Go-Go's,
Joan Jett and many other well known dance tunes. This will be the
first performance by The Venus Mission in Jackson at Mardi Gras.
"We are trying to provide a great alternative place for people to get
out and enjoy themselves," says owner Mary Grace Brown. "We have set a
new standard in entertainment in downtown Jackson and people have
really been enjoying what we are doing."
The Thursday "Girl's Nite Out" promotion began in May as an alternative
to most of the Ladies Nights that go on at Jackson watering holes.
"Combining with Q105 radio has targeted the right market for us and has
helped establish our entertainment venue as the place to be on Thursday
nights," says Joel Brown, promotions coordinator for Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras is located at 824 S State Street at Silas Brown in downtown
Jackson. Featuring an eclectic fusion of Cajun and Southern cuisine,
the restaurant is destined to become one of downtown Jackson's main
attractions. MG's piano/jazz bar has already become a favorite hangout
to hear the most varied music Jackson has to offer, and the Nightclub
at Mardi Gras features the largest dance floor around as well as live
music by the region's best entertainers on the weekends.
