[verbatim] March 30, 2005—A group of prominent Jackson ministers, representing various denominations, will gather at Mayor Harvey Johnson, Jr.'s campaign office April 5 at 11:30 a.m. to officially endorse Johnson and express why they want him to continue the progress for another four years.
"I am honored by their support. They have supported us in the past and it's good to see that support coming over into this race," said Johnson.
More than 20 members showed up to support the mayor during his re-election announcement in February, including the Rev. John Cameron, pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Rev. Cameron said he supports Johnson because he has "a record of performance."
"I am reminded of years ago when I was in school and I was running for class president. Part of the campaign was that the student body was not looking for someone who was going to be a good president nor one who has been a good president, but one who is a good president," said Cameron.
"Mayor Johnson is not going to be a good mayor or has been a good mayor, but he is a good mayor and it's evident throughout the city. He is doing an outstanding job and I feel that he deserves another four years [in office]."
The campaign office is located at 932 N. State Street.
