And for once they were not prepared to take Bush's word that it would all turn out O.K., that they should just trust him. Bush was showing "stunning arrogance," declared Ann Coulter, to think he could just pick anyone he liked.
"The President is not supposed to be nominating his personal lawyer for a job on the United States Supreme Court," she said. "You don't have your personal accountant replace Alan Greenspan. It's embarrassing to hear people describe this as if this is the best woman Bush could get."
Ann, lovely, lovely Ann, treasure this moment....as I am sure it will never be repeated.

Good heavens, I too am agreeing with Ms. Coulter. Of course, she's pi$$ed that Harriet MIGHT not support neo-McCarthyism, and my concerns lie elsewhere, but still WE'RE AGREEING about whole personal attorney thing. Of course, I'm not sure we heard her whining when George appointed his campaign handler as his vice president, but I quibble. It's one thing to appoint someone who will keep your secrets of ineptness as your No. 2 for eight years -- and still another to make one a Supreme Court justice. I could buy that this is a scam. Dobson whines holy hell, Harriet steps aside bashing liberals, and George puts up a real fascist. Just a thought. Or, then again, maybe his cronies actually don't want Roe overturned. It's a toss-up.

Well, maybe they assume if they put up a "throw away", the conservatives in the country will go so sick of those "bashing liberals" and how we forced "poor Ms Miers" to step down from her nomination...they will all band together and make SURE whoever he puts up next is pushed thru. Or, that is what comes up if I put on my Rovian Thinking Cap...the one with the aluminum foil.

Well, since Bush has found a new job that is much more suited to his aptitudes and intelligence, maybe Miers should just finish out the three years of his term?

I think nothing but a hard hat, a utility belt, and flanked by both a handlebar mustached biker and a fake Indian chief and we could see a resurgence of total Village People Consciousness before we know it.....

I dunno about Bush having the chops for construction work... I mean, look at the way he's standing. I've never seen anybody do a Horse Stance while hammering a nail before. Maybe he's trying to show off his new codpiece... Cheers, TH
