Momma Church Hat addresses members of the Loyal Order of Women in Church Hats, # 775-1/2:
"While locating my favorite weekly broadcast of The Rev. Cletus Car Sales program on the radio, I accidentally tuned in a talk radio show. A discussion about Social Security caught my attention —since I'm a senior citizen with grandbabies and stuff.
"Then, the radio talk show host jumped on the subject of black folk and crime. He said: 'You could abort everyblack baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.' I replied: 'What kind of crime prevention is that? Black babies are guilty before proven innocent?'
"For a moment, I was hot. Then, I realized that some folk talk and share ideas while we watch TV shows like 'Jerry Springer's Greatest Hits,' 'Celebrity Disco Challenge' and 'Makeovers for the Fashion Challenged.' We get caught up in soap opera plots, while some folk plot and plan on the radio and television. And if this is the case, we need to counteract these so-called plots by establishing the
Church Hat Media Watch Campaign for Critical Thinkers.
"Although I missed my favorite radio program, I heard something on the radio that might affect me and my community. And in times like these, I believe we need to put on our thinking caps as well as our church hats. Amen?"
Church Hat Members: "So, be it, and amen, too!"
