The AP is reporting that the government is gonna give us free TV in four years.
This is to make sure that people who can't afford the new converter box when the country goes "all digital" in 2009 won't miss ONE SECOND OF SPIN in case there is a subsequent Bush family member who decides to run for President.
Now granted, they are planning on making 10 BILLION dollars from the sale of the old analog system, and only use 3 BILLION to subsidize the converter boxes for American homes.
Lawmakers want to spend $3 billion to make sure millions of Americans won't wake up to blank TV screens when the country makes the switch to all-digital broadcasts....
Stevens estimates that the converter boxes would cost about $50. His plan would call for the government to pay roughly $40, and the consumer would make a co-payment of $10....
The sale of the analog spectrum is expected to raise at least $10 billion. Besides the $3 billion for converter boxes, the Senate bill proposes reserving $1 billion for public safety to buy new radio communications equipment and $250 million for a national alert system. Another $5 billion would be set aside for debt reduction.
But, did you notice they are only using half of the money to offset debts?...And then THREE WHOLE BILLION on digital cable television....Instead of buying people things they can use...like FOOD.
Yes, I know that there are many men in the country that would rather eat Britney Spears boobs....wait, *I* would rather eat Britney Spears boobs.
Carry on. Nothing to see here.
