I think it also should be said that this award is a form of validation for Kamikaze in his quest to put Mississippi on the "map", so to speak. The work he has done with the MAP Coalition has gained recognition, and I think that he has earned the respect of a great deal of people.

I am very proud of Kaze. As many of you know I have been following both him and Banner since Grey Skies. I am hopeful that Kaze will not conform to commercialism as his counterpart has. Although I am still a very big fan (and wish for a CL reunion) I am deeply concerned about the new Banner I'm seeing. He has changed his image....AGAIN. I know these dudes feel like they need to do what they must to make a honest living and that should be commended, however, when a person who has a voice sacrafices that voice for money....I consider them to be a sell out. Webb, I know that this is not what you set this up for but I think that those who want to congratulate Kaze on his achievements should know that although he is still "patiently waiting" he has made some very strong and positive moves in this community as Banner has. And I hope that his work will not go unseen. I personally feel like he has more to offer the world in a non-rapping fashion than he does as a rapper and thus I feel like this is why he is STILL WAITING!!!!

FROM SOHH.COM: Mississippi hiphop heavyweights David Banner and Kamikaze will be honored at the MS' Best Awards on Saturday, October 28, 2006. "This history-making event will celebrate the best of the state in over 40 categories," says Jackie Watson-Loggins, Asst. Communications Director. Though the public will decide most of the winners, the Planning Committee will be presenting five awards, of which one is the "Best of the Best Award." "It made sense that both Banner and Kamikaze get this one," Loggins continued. "They have contributed so much to the music scene collectively as Crooked Lettaz and then experienced success as solo perfomers. Not only that, they have made it their aim to give back to the community as well as reach out to others during the Katrina disaster." For details about the awards dinner, how to become a member of the event's Yahoo group and more, visit www.free2flow.com or contact Jackie Watson-Loggins at 601-923-6461.

Family Tree Entertainment/Relentless Management and Young World Music Group would like to congratulate Kamikaze on his Ozone award for the "Patiently Waiting" award for Mississippi. It is an honor that is reserved for artists that are deemed the next to blow up from a specific state. This award is particularly important because he is the only artist without a record deal to win. Kamikaze along with his previous group "Crooked Lettaz" partner in rhyme, David Banner, will also be recognized in the month of October for the "Best of the Best Award". Mississippi's Best Awards honor those from the state who have made strides in various fields including the arts, politics, sports and community service. "Banner and Kamikaze have both done their part in the music business as well as when it comes to community involvement," says C. A. Webb, the awards ceremony Founder and Communication Director. "We wanted to acknowledge them both for the work they are doing in and out of the studio." His current street single "U Sked" featuring David Banner is heating up in the streets and will be featured in NBA 2007 for the new Playstation 3. The song is produced by Young World Music Group/Relentless Management producers Mayhem and Carlisle, who also produced the hit "There It Go"(The Whistle Song) for Juelz Santana. Blue Williams of Family Tree Entertainment has come aboard for management and is fielding offers from the majors. Regarding Kamikaze as an artist Blue Williams said, "Timing is everything. Sometimes artists are ready before the world is. Fortunately, the time feels right and everything is in line and in sync for Kamikaze to finally get his chance to shine and show the world what he can do." Julia Bond, founder and owner of Ozone magazine said, "With Kamikaze winning the award I hope it will help everyone recognize his talents so he can go to the next level." Past winners of the honor include Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Young Jeezy and Pitbull.
