I believe so. But, you know, it takes a lot of rest and relaxation to cook up all these ways to take freedoms away from Americans. Sorry, but the machine guns at the apartment complex have me a bit ornery. It does give one pause to think about the example the president of the U.S., who believes he's above the law and has a "mandate" to do whatever strikes his fancy, is setting for small-time leaders like Melton, who clearly thinks he's above the law. If the prez can do it....

I'm seeing an uncomfortable Bush-Melton parallel myself, Donna: Huge coalitions of support with no good idea of why they're there, insistence on a "mandate," dramatic but poorly-planned displays of strength. I wish I had something sensible to say here. I don't, except that maybe Melton needs a flightsuit and a "Mission Accomplished" banner. And no idea why a frigging SCLC officer was at this photo op. And increasingly little idea of why the union people have his back. Lots of conversations I need to be having with people over what they see in Melton. Who knows; maybe they'll have an answer I can bring back here. But right now, I'm underwhelmed. Cheers, TH
