Simon and Simon! Ha! Anyway... I thought the Sheriff confirmed there were no active warrants for Vidal. Didn't someone say that on the other thread? If so, why and how is he in custody? Just curious.

Check out my comments on the other blog and you all will understand this comment. LOCK HIM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY (Vidal that is). Our city is better off without him, especially my neighborhood.

The problem being, Melishia, you can't just arrest people when there is no probable cause or arrest warrant. Law enforcement here has made it clear that, while he is no saint, there are no outstanding charges. That doesn't mean they can't watch him and bust him for something else. But you can't arrest people for no reason, and you don't want to live in a place where that can happen.

That is true. But the problem that I have is that JPD (and all systems that could provide those services) has been so messed up for so long. Records are lost, inside connections allow some of the top criminals in this state to walk free. not saying that Vidal has those connections (which he probably had at some point in his miserable life). If the investigators and prosecutirs would do a better job in finding evidence against thesse terrorist then maybe our new administration could do things the right way.

The same Priester who donated money to Melton's campaign!?! Say it isn't so.... Are certain judges assigned to certain cases or can you pick any judge you want to file your requests (gag order)?

From Ledge today: A man Jackson Mayor Frank Melton had been pursuing for a week made a court appearance that was closed to reporters Wednesday night, and the judge issued a gag order in the case. Melton, who had been on a personal campaign to find Vidal Sullivan and have him arrested since the reputed gang associate was acquitted on a murder charge last week, said Sullivan turned himself in to Melton and Police Chief Shirlene Anderson in the parking lot behind the Police Department at 8:30 p.m. It was unclear what charge or charges Sullivan faces since no one involved in the case was allowed to discuss it. It also was unclear where Sullivan was being held. "He's at an undisclosed location," Melton said Wednesday night. "He's in protective custody." As of 11:30 p.m., Sullivan had not been booked into the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond. As of 11:45 p.m., the JPD arrest docket did not list Sullivan as having been placed in custody. U.S. Marshal Nehemiah Flowers said at about 10 p.m. he could not verify that Sullivan was in U.S. Marshal custody and to check back with him in an hour. Flowers did not answer his phone an hour later. Sullivan made a brief appearance before Municipal Court Judge Mel Priester. The media was not allowed inside the courtroom. From outside, Sullivan could be seen standing next to Melton. Anderson and officer Michael Recio also were in the courtroom. Priester later acknowledged he had issued the gag order. When asked for further information on the case, he said he did not want to violate his own order. THIS IS THEATER OF THE ABSURD, PEOPLE. Recio, by the way, is one of Mr. Melton's bodyguard. Is he a police officer? If so, why was he traveling with Mr. Melton throughout the mayoral campaign? I'm confused.

What up with this? Hinds County District Attorney Faye Peterson said today she has not been told what charges have filed against reputed street gang member Vidal Sullivan. "I don't know anything about anything that is going on," Peterson said. "I don't know where he is. I don't know what he is charged with." [...] Melton, who said he has know the 32-year-old Sullivan since he was 14, brought him in to face that earlier charge. Melton said Sullivan is wanted on another charge and should not have been released following his acquittal.

Since when are criminals arraigned in municipal court? i believe that court handles parking fines and other violations of city ordinances. It has no standing in criminal matters and how can the judge issue a gag order in case that isn't before trial? This is truly insane. I don't know if state law provides a manner to impeach a mayor, but if it does this has to qualify for an impeachable offense. You don't have to look very hard to see the conspiracy in this, from the melton to the municipal judge to our (gum chewing, always smiling with a clueless look on her face) chief of police. They have circumvented the entire justice system. I pray the media or the members of the city council don't let this go as frank being frank.

OK, Frank this is it! 1. Vidal Sullivan, you have known since he was 14 yrs old. 2. I helped troubled youth in the past. 3. Vidal Sullivan alledgedly murders a kid, R. Versell, from Wood St. 4. An investigation was conducted and JPD Homicide Unit didn't find enough physical evidence or proable cause to arrest. Case goes cold. 5. Frank, appointed to act like a law enforcement officer with MBN. 6. The state leading narcotics investigation division starts investigating homicides. (Really Amazing!!) 7. Hey, Frank's agency solve the case, and go to JPD Homicide. 8. JPD exprienced Homicide Retired Supv. review the case, and advised that was not enough to go to court on. 9. However, with FRank's years of exprience in homicide invesitgation, goes forward anyway with S. Anderson & R. Sandifer leading the investigation. (Humm!) 10. Frank uses his political connections to make someone look @ it. 11. Someone look @ the case, and investigate a little more. Then decides it is not a good case to waste tax payers money going to trial. 12. Frank, spoiled brat, goes to the media crying, because he can't have his way. 13. Frank is elected mayor. 14. V. Sullivan gets arrested in another murder with Frank's favorite soldier, Maurice Warner. Of course drug related. 15. V. Sullivan aquitted. 16. Frank goes ballistic!, and fabricate evidence and witnesses. 17. Note: Some other city's most dangerous people were found not guilty in the justice system. Frank was satisfied with the verdict. 18. Frank threatens to take leave of absence to recapture (kidnap) V. Sullivan. Hiding behind Official position. 19. WAPT news reported they checked with U.S. Marshall advised they were not taking part in this man hunt until a warrant can be verified. Warrants were checked with the following agencies and no warrants were found: Hinds County Sheriff's Office; Madison County Sheriff's Office; Rankin Sheriff's Office; and MBN. 20. V. Sullivan turns himself in to the police. (oops, I mean Special Agent Frank Melton). 21. Why there were no uniform JPD Officers in that footage? 22. Why V. Sullivan didn't have any handcuffs on? 23. Why V. Sullivan got into a black Tahoe or Yukon, the mayor mobile? 24. Why is V. Sullivan in protective custody and he is the most dangerous guy in Jackson, Ms? 25. Where is V. Sullivan being incarcerated? (Is Frank's personal Detention Center, I thought it was only for juveniles) 26. Why the Hinds County D.A. haven't indicted V. Sullivan on the outside warrant for drug posession w/ intent to distrubute? 27. Why the City Council; Citizens of Jackson; FBI; DEA; ATF; US Attorney not outraged by this idiot's actions? 28. Why bother, Mississippi is ranked #1 in public corruption.

Ladd, I am almost certain thay Recio is the officer/former with JPD that was severely disciplined for escorting Melton into the city's communication center before Frank was elected as mayor. The action outraged the former administration for reasons that I cannot recall. It happened late one night during one of the shifts. I don't know if Recio is still officially with JPD or not.
