In a column that follows up on Ms. Thomas' much-discussed questioning of Bush at his press conference earlier this week. During the press conference, it became clear that Bush couldn't easily answer the question of why he ordered a war in Iraq, saying instead that no President "wants" to go to war. From Thomas' column:
Standing on a rooftop, an American soldier recently fired a shot at an Iraqi man walking down the street. As the dying Iraqi grabbed at his wound, he cried out: "What did I do?"
That's for every American to answer.
Check out the whole thing from the "dean" of the White House Press Corps.

You should never lead a country into war if you can't later answer the question, "why?" That's just not good enough for the citizens, and certainly for those families who lost loved ones.

I love Helen Thomas. Like the good journalistic giant she is, she will listen attentively to all the bullcrap one is willing to spew, and just when you think you have suceeded at snowing her and yourself, she'll kindly ask you the one loaded question that undeniably blows your butt clearly out of the water. If I were a bullsh______ president I wouldn't ever acknowledge seeing her. Most of you are too young to remember, but, L. C. Dorsey, a social worker, used to have a field day on Charles Ever doing pretty much exactly the same thing when Evers was stradling the fence and bullshooting both black and white people. She could see through all of his lies and tricks and never failed to point them out publicly. He would try to leave the stage before she could be acknowledged and allowed to ask questions.
