My interview with C.A. Webb for CONVERSATIONS magazine! Makes you feel kinda special, doesn't it, Ali? :-)
Excerpt:
In my introduction of you I mentioned that you are a blogger for the Jackson Free Press magazine (http://www.jacksonfreepress.com). Tell us how that came about and the way you go about deciding what to write about.
I picked up my first copy of the JFP around 2004, and I fell in love. I had never seen a paper like it in the area, and I wanted to read more of if but did not know how to get any more. Well, I went to their Web site at the beginning of 2005 to read these articles. I saw that Jackson was still a city to be proud of regardless of who was moving away. I also wanted to share my opinions, so I registered and chose the name L.W. so that no one could tell who I was or that I was a woman. I started posting replies in the blogs and enjoyed the online conversations immensely. I also began to make entries of my my own in the Culture Blog and the Politics Blog because I wanted to talk about things I haven't read concerning the black community and issues in Africa. After posting entries and replies on a regular basis for a few months, the editor-in-chief, Donna Ladd, asked me via email if I would like my own blog. I was flattered and shocked all at the same time. I had never blogged on a regular basis in that way, and I wondered what people would think of what I had to say. I decided not to let the opportunity slip and accept the offer. I am now VERY thankful that I did not turn Donna down and that I now have a sounding board where I can express myself.

Hey, Latasha, this is a great interview. And thanks for the JFP plug. No problem on horn-tooting. We Mississippians (and women) have to learn not to be shy about promoting ourselves, our city and our state. Do it every single chance you get, girlfriend. Also, I didn't see Ali's Q&A in the Weekend section. Did they figure out that she's a JFP columnist? ;-)

I don't think its going to be in there until the June 1st edition. That gives them plenty of time to figure it out. :)

Donna, the interview I did for last week's column was actually on SOULFLO. They had an event at Tougaloo over the weekend. This week's article will be on Jerrie Glasper and his recent success at Southern Breeze. Ali, your interview does appear in my ONE ON ONE column on June 1st. They loved the pic (smile). And, as expected, the interview doesn't focus on the JFP--- but I think it is a good conversation. (I sent you the excerpt today.) Latasha, you all have been great to feature. I wouldn't be a successful interview without an interesting subject.

Yeah, they think if they never mention us, we'll just go away. ;-) It's great you're doing all these interviews, C.A. And I'm glad you're publishing widely. Keep up the good work.

Donna, I have enjoyed it and the exposure has been great. (And we know I love to "expose" myself.
