The Clarion-Ledger is reporting that Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Tomie Green has directed attorneys for the city and for Jennifer Sutton, owner of the duplex on Ridgeway Street that Mayor Frank Melton and associates allegedly demolished, to come to an agreement on how city officials may refer to the property.
Last week, Green granted a motion (PDF, 900K) for a temporary restraining order that forbid city officials from referring to the Ridgeway Street duplex as a "drug house."
Today, Green heard about an hour of testimony on whether she should grant a permanent restraining order. However, Green did not decide on that matter today, instead ordering attorneys to come to an agreement on their own. If they cannot reach an agreement, they will appear before Green again next Wednesday.

This will be very interesting. Can King Melton obey the orders of a judge? He couldn't obey the AG. He couldn't obey the DA. I wonder if he feels any different about a JUDGE. It also amazes me how much progress the city appears to be making since Melton was stripped of his "powers". Crime is still more than we would like for it to be, but at least its not as bad as it was when Melton was galavanting around town in the MC van. One more point............has Melton accumulated enough personal leave time from the city for all of these court appearances? Are they going to dock his check?

Actually, Lance, violent crime is up over 100% in Precinct 4 as compared to this time last year. All Melton. Own the problems Meltonites!

This one confuses me. Why would a judge ask the defendant's lawyers and the plaintiff and her lawyers to come to some kind of an agreement over what this house should be called? Excuse me but isn't this really the germ of the case. Why would Mrs. Sutton say, "Ok, let's call it a "Crack House." Better still, why would Frank and Dank agree to anything other than what they are stating emphatically - "This is a Crack House." This really sounds like an exercise in passing the buck. Come on Tommie, you can do better than this!
