As an serious SEC sports fan and a fan of sports in general I have to say I do not really see the relevance of this column. I mean, I am a hardcore fan of the Jackson Free Press but if your not going to do some kind of real sports commentary column, then just get rid of this. No offense to Dr. S, I appreciate the effort but this column has and does read like a television and radio listing and not like any kind of sports column.

Just saw this, Doc. I don't get this post. E, you may not value sports listings, but many do. We're not "getting rid" of anything. Also, who said this was a sports column. Any dolt can see that it's listings, albeit peppered with Dr. S's genuis, of course. Also, you're welcome to provide "real sports commentary" anytime you want. As you know as a handcore fan, the JFP site provides an open forum. You can start your own threads to talk sports if you'd like. It also so happens that we have expanded sports coverage in the offing, so keep an eye out.

Thank you both for responding to my post. I wasn't sure if anyone was. I greatly appreciate the fact that JFP provides an open forum to discuss anything, including sports, however my initial post is in regards to a real sports commentary column. As you stated, this column is just listings for time and date, along with Dr. S making remarks. I feel that why not include both these listings and a real sports column that discusses the SEC and other relevant sports and conferences. I know that sports may not fit with the Jackson Free Press style, but many avid readers would greatly appreciate a good alternative look at sports around our region. I absolutely abhor the Clarion-Ledger's coverage of sports in this state and hope that maybe one day the Jackson Free Press will have a great sports column with a great sports writer. Keep up the good work and I'll keep looking for better sports coverage in the JFP.

Well, then, we're in agreement. As I said, we're working on expanded sports coverage. That said, your initial post sounded like a bit of an attack on poor Doc for no reason. We now see what you meant to say. Thanks.
