Big news today on the Clarion-Ledger/TDN front: Today the Mississippi Independent Publishers Alliance placed red multi-boxes in six PMG Chevrons in prime locations in the metro, joining Mac's Gas and Conoco/SuperStop chains, which recently invited MIPA papers back into their stores. The six locations were originally on TDN's list of exclusive distribution spots, but the management reconsidered its agreement with TDN, opting to allow local publications to once again distribute in the locations. All six of these stations are new distribution spots for the Jackson Free Press. Please stop into the stores, spend a few bucks and thank these businesses for supporting locally owned media. The stores are at the following locations:
(Click links for Yahoo maps to locations)
405 Lake Harbor Drive (at Pear Orchard, Ridgeland)
1088 Hwy 51 (near West Jackson St., Ridgeland)
721 Rice Road (a few blocks east of Old Canton, Ridgeland)
840 E County Line Rd (the big intersection at County Line and Ridgewood)
1861 Spillway Rd (above Northshore Parkway, right before reservoir, Brandon)
1548 Peace Street, Canton (west of Country Club Road, east of Madison County Medical Center)
Keep an eye out: another big announcement on this front coming soon.

good news about good news, but. I just don't want to say it again, y'all are tired of it I'm sure. I've only been here 3 years, that's a kid's age. And where I come from, City Pages, in the Twin Cities of Minn. ruled ! You could not even not find it if you wanted to. Every little coffeehouse had it, and then you could also find Lavender. Didn't have to walk far. A few other free presses there, I forget.. Meanwhile, I languish here in Vicksburg, the home of the brave. All buried. Hats off to them, but still, it's the only place to take a walk. The library is usually out of JFP's, and the lovely Attic Gallery is usually a week behind, but I love the red wagon there. I have considered subscribing, but it's steep. Online I see most what I need, and more actually. But I love print, and Vicksburg needs it - get on over here please! We are trying to be a cool place, we have a damn fine coffeehouse now for starters. (Just a little ad there, no I don't work for them.) ( In fact, I don't work at all. Because, the minimum wage,, you really don't want me to continue, do you. ha.) really nice day here. love to everyone who takes time to read this here blog. it's my favorite place to stop by. (I do also like Air America, and their bankruptcy is not stopping them!) Let's hope Lott retires and Goddess help us Barbour does not step in, because then, truly, I am out of here for sure. But I will come back because, for some strange reason, must be the river, to be continued.

Great news. Any chance you can post the nearest cross-street for those addresses? I want to make a point to get to those Chevrons this week. Thanks.

Will do, Newt. Todd went to them all tonight. I'll ask him to put in specifics. Thanks! And, again, to all of you, all of your efforts have reallly made this happen. Thank you so much, and please keep it up and support the businesses that support local media.

Great news! I'll go by at least one of 'em tomorrow and spend some bucks... And take Sunshines advice- Vicksburg is cool, and it will be suburban Jackson one day- might as well make friends there now. You guys need to be statewide anyway, nobody else is... The Balloon race is going on in Natchez this weekend- where is the coverage?

Newt, I've added some directions, as well as Yahoo map links, to the list of Chevrons above. Please, all, go by and thank these businesses for supporting local media and add them to your list of stores that you frequent. This list is a fabulous boon to our metro distribution, and we couldn't be happier about it. Thanks!

Once again, free press wins. Please don't give up the fight. It's how this country started. I imagine the local blacksmith said the same thing to B.F. "Can't start no trouble!" I mention your publication to every vendor I visit that has your paper. THe only real way to know what's going on in Jackson.
