The New York Times is reporting:
Ten American soldiers were killed on Tuesday, the military announced today, bringing October's death toll for United States forces to 69. Four of the soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb west of Baghdad, and three others died in fighting in Diyala province, a troubled area northeast of the capital where sectarian violence has run high.
A Marine was killed by insurgents in Anbar province, the western region where the Sunni insurgency is centered, and two soldiers were killed in Baghdad, one by insurgent gunfire and one by a roadside bomb.
In addition to the American casualties, the Iraqi chief of intelligence for Maysan province in the south died along with four of his bodyguards when his car touched off a bomb planted on a highway.

Who will save our soldiers? Who with good conscience believes that Iraq was the right thing to do. We have betrayed our soldiers and know one wants to address it for fear of being called un-patriotic. The seeds of 9-11 were planted in Afganistan. The bombing of the USS Cole took place in Yemen. The first World Trade Center bombing's plans most likely were launched from Pakistan. And we sent our soldiers to Iraq. And now, North Korea and Iran, both labeled as part of Bush's axis of evil, are now more of a threat. Our soldiers are being targeted exclusively in Iraq, to the tune of almost 4 deaths a day. They think that they are keeping us safe. Who will keep them safe?

Good points tebeda. I have blogged on this subject before and daily, the situation in Iraq gets worse. There was a blog from a soldier whose uses the name blu_n_aredstate. The person talked about joining the military for all of the right reasons; however, the administration has not kept its promise. This soldier didn't mind fighting or dying for the country but not for the blatant lies that have been told, namely "WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION."

Each and every death that occurs in Iraq is a useless death that accomplished absolutely nothing. There is no noble cause. Our soldiers are over there fighting a war of choice. Are we safer? No!! Some like to make the argument that we have not been attacked since 9-11. My question is this, "What is the encore to 9-11?" Bin Laden accomplished what he wanted, and Bush gave him even more by going into Iraq. Our soldiers are stuck in the middle of a civil war between religious factions, not terrorists!
