Jackson Free Press

Remember the controversial list, "You Are a Jacksonian If ..." that we published two years ago? It was a throwaway piece, but it got all sorts of chatter going on the site. We always say that it's not the real controversy that causes controversy. Anyway, as we gather user- and staff-generated content for the print edition of Jackpedia, the coolest guide to Jacktown you've ever seen, I've resurrected the list over on Jackpedia, starting a version for 2007. So head on over and add your own by clicking right here.

And if you're an artist, a business owner or just a citizen who loves to do stuff in Jackson, please head over and add your entries so they can make the print edition, out Aug. 16. Deadline to post in order to make print is this week.

9. You remember when Lakeland Skating Center was called Roller Express. I SOOO remember that!! I miss my skating days, and now they turned that place into a stupid office building!! :( Good memories, though!

See, I haven't lived in Jackson long enough for me to have a valid "memory lane" experience. Am I a valid Jacksonian if I've only been here nine years? But, I do remember when driving down County Line Road was actually POSSIBLE. So, maybe that makes me an official Jacksonian after all. I think that "If you've ever actually been forced to buy new tires because your daily driving includes multiple trips down Fortification." should be added to the list. Fortification St. has cost me approximately $350 to date. And I didn't even get a hooker out of that.

Hello...HELLO! I'm actually going to try to hang out some now. I know you guys are so excited. ;) I'm reading and trying to catch up! I love the "Jacksonian" list mainly because I know tons of people who do nothing but complain about the same things I find "charming" about this town. Like, just the other day, I saw my first real live hooker on West Capital. She was out early too. It was only 4pm! (To anyone out there under the age of 28, I am judging the local Fox 40 American Idol competition this Saturday...please feel free to come yodel for me.)
