You missed the intro! My problems with Armstrong and the others that Melton has hired is that he has hired more than just one felon, he has hired several. Also, he keeps trying to get his "boyz" a job with the city cutting grass, cleaning up, and road work. So, what about all the regular folks that did these jobs before Melton came along? They weren't out getting into trouble; and now they may be replaced by kids who are in and out of trouble because they are Melton's "boyz." Also, with the likes of Stafnney and Armstrong you have students who are working hard or have graduated from Jackson State in public administration, etc who want, and need, jobs like the ones Melton keeps giving to "friendly ex-felons." So, how do you think all the kids who keep their noses clean while all their friends were messing up feel when they constantly see our Mayor "giving second chances" instead of some first chances? Let's not forget that Melton has only put family and "friends" that he has worked with at MBN or WLBT in a majority of jobs. This is not someone concerned with betterment of the citizenry. I'm all for second chances; but, not on my tax dollar to people who have screwed over the same City I pay those taxes in!

Agreed. If I were majoring in public administration or urban planning at JSU and planned to stay in the area, I'd have to seriously consider changing majors. And that's a crying shame. Cheers, TH

notice how over at Miss. Politics they don't have any stories listed from the last several days about Meltons hiring Armstrong or rearranging department heads or putting someone who runs a little league team in charge of a multi million dollar budget. And they don't allow you to start threads either. How convenient.

Kaze, You and Ms Ladd have both been on Kim's show and and may even know him personally. What is up with that guy? I really think he gets a pass from the intellectuals like Cliff that would be all over someone like Kim if he were on the opposite aisle. Kim is obviously intelligent, but he says some things about the black community that white people would not accept if said about the white community. With the WJNT crowd, it seems like its a reward.

Kim IS an intelligent guy...and savvy enough to know how to push folks buttons. He's what he says he is..nothing more..a black conservative. Which I can deal with because regardless of our disagreements he's going to speak his true mind. Which is more than I can say for a lot of people. And you're right, if he was on MY side of a lot of views he WOULD get attacked. But such is the nature of debate. His views may seem crazy, byt that's why Im there to try and present a different view. At the end of the day..most of the callers, Cliff included, disagree with me, but they can't help but respect my opinion. And thats all I can ask at the end of the day. Ironically, Kim says a lot of stuff that BLACK people WOULD accept if he was white and therein lies the problem. Keep disagreeing with him that's how solutions come about! And don't let him get you riled up! that's how he gets his jollies LOL!

Kamikaze: Solutions are found when people of varying opinions get together. I am not the type of person that has a problem with a black conservative or any conservative for that matter. I am conservative on a lot of issues. My problem comes in when guys like Kim assume a role that is more hurtful to progress than helpful. I do not see the sense in him always jumping up to defend folks that are obviously trying to be racists. I can work with people of differing opinions, but I can not work with people I do not respect. Not only is it a blessing and a privelege, but there is a responsibility that one has when he/she has been entrusted with power. The black community has a lot of problems. Those problems need to be addressed by people that want to fix them. Kim can be a black Republican without disrespecting or insulting black people. I guess I just wanted to know whether it was an act or not. Because in our email group, he says some things that are just off the wall and disrespectful. He may say things in a joking manner, but I have received too many emails where he says black Democrats are slaves and literally going to hell, and that is the tame stuff. I can differ with a person ideologically and work with them, but its hard to work with disrespectful people. How long have have you been involved with Kim and the show?

just really got involved..and Ive been witness to his views on Democrats...Part of it is sensationalism trust...I simply return those outlandish, colorful comments with some of my own about Republicans and conservatives. See that makes for sensatonal radio. Further i don't subscribe to either a Democrat or Republican belief. I say Im liberal to but to be quite honest Ii have some conservative views like you. Im somewhere in the middle. But the thing that I say is that conservatives are usually arrogant and obnoxious and liberals are overly-emotional and obnoxious. Conservatives play on our passion by being smug and smarmy with their comments. they're usually so crass that its hard not to fly off the handle. But if you step back and take it for what it is...you can handle it Im sure. Ive got plenty of respect for Kim, as he has for me. Never before has his callers taken to a "liberal" so they say. but they almost always hang up at least respecting my point of view. Point is, Kim's psychotic conservative right-winged dribble drabble doesnt faze me. It's his opinion, and he partly does it on that blog cause you guys completely lose it and end up ranting like maniacs. That's where they win. You fight smug with smug. Crazy with crazy. feel me? when I feel like Kim is wrong he AND the listeners will know it.

I've been listening to you on Kim's show for the last couple of weeks, Kaze, and I have to say you really have a knack for talk radio in that you don't allow the RCRs to get under your skin.

I get it from a mother who was a teacher for some 40 odd years who often made me look like a stark raving mad maniac when I tried feverehly to drum home a point passionately and she sat there clamly almost non-responsive at times. Id end up looking like a crazy man and she looked like the civil one..even if she was wrong. I don't let em see me sweat. They upset me sure, but ive got a power of telling folks to go to hell in a way that they'll enjoy the trip. feel me? that one caller the other day with the "boy" comments ALLLLMOST got me. Lucky there was a break LOL

I have always thought it was interesting that when you listen to the nationally televised conservative radio talk shows, the only liberals that get on are the ones that can't express themselves for various reasons. I think that is genius because for their audience that usually does not know better, this fits into the image that they try to create of "looney liberal". I can not think of a time that they ever have gotten me upset, but I am passionate about a lot of issues. Also, when you grew up a certain way, there lines that you do not allow people to cross, things you do not play about. When I talk to my parents and their parents, I learn from them that we take too much for granted these days. We give up too much hard earned ground. And most often we are responsible for that. Apathy and lack of passion has us here in 2007 under the most ridiculous flag of the 50 states. We need to be harder on ourselves and take a no nonsense approach to forces that are against the state and nation progressing in the right direction.
