Welfare Poem

While using a search engine, I saw a "poem" on an e-zine where the owner of the site says that he or she is not the author. Well, I'll give the person some credit for that. It sounds like the poem came from an e-mail that has probably been circulating for years. You can't get more anti-immigration than this - as far as I know, anyway. And now, for your reading pleasure:

I cross ocean,
poor and broke,
Take bus,
see employment folk.

Nice man treat me
good in there,
Say I need to
see welfare.

Welfare say,
"You come no more,
We send cash
right to your door."

Welfare checks,
they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep
you healthy!

I got plenty money,
Thanks to you,
American dummy.

Write to friends
in motherland,
Tell them 'come
fast as you can.'

They come in turbans
and Ford trucks,
I buy big house
with welfare bucks.

They come here,
we live together,
More welfare checks,
it gets better!

Fourteen families,
they moving in,
But neighbor's patience
wearing thin.

Finally, white guy
moves away,
Now I buy his house,
and then I say,

"Find more aliens
for house to rent."
And in the yard
I put a tent.

Send for family
they just trash,
But they, too,
draw the welfare cash!

Everything is
very good,
And soon we
own the neighborhood.

We have hobby
it's called breeding,
Welfare pay
for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist?
Wife need pills?
We get free!
We got no bills!

American crazy!
He pay all year,
To keep welfare
running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.

If they no like us, they can scram,
Got lots of room in Pakistan.

It is interesting that the Federal Government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890, and each also can get an additional $580 in social assistance, for a total of $2,470.

This compares very well to a single pensioner, who, after contributing to the growth and development of America for forty to fifty years can receive only a monthly maximum of $1,012 in old age pension and Guar. Inc. Supplement.

Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

Let's send this to all Americans, so we can all be ticked off, and maybe we can get the refugees cut back to $1,012 and the pensioners up to $2,470 and enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last forty or fifty years.

Please copy and forward to every American to expose what our elected politicians have been doing over the past eleven years—to the over-taxed American.

We have hobby. it's called breeding. This is disgusting. This kind of racist, xenophobic drivel would be a complete waste of my time if I didn't think people actually believe these things. The sad thing is that many "American dummies"-- to borrow this "poem's" pseudo-"immigrant" voice-- actually do. There is an profound strain of racism-- much of it based on complete lies--in the national dialogue about immigration. Hate literature like this does not help. This "poem" is not even worth any kind of intelligent analysis, but it refers to political refugees, not immigrants. There is a huge distinction. As for that monetary figure, I'd like to know the source. The worst part of it is this: The publisher of the Web site, "Mary Wilkey" (who, if she exists, is a coward for posting this hate tract, encouraging others to re-send it, and not claiming any knowledge of the source), introduces her Web site as such: Your weekly collection of positive tips, hints, and advice offered with humor, inspiration, and other goodies for anyone and everyone who is inclined to read. I feel sorry for her-- if she actually exists--and I don't hold her any less accountible for dissemenating hate literature because she quotes Bible verses on her "positive" Web site. As a matter of fact, this Web site appears to be a front for internet pyramid schemes. I doubt "Ms. Wilkey" exists, but if she does-- God help her. As for the sharks that likely preyed on Americans' religion and racism by creating this Web site ... Well. Keep bottom-feeding. Look for my article about racism in the immigration dialogue in this week's issue. Thank you for posting this, L.W.

I went through the site's archives. Maybe this person is real. She's certainly consistent in her ignorance and xenophobia: Mosques are going up across this country in record numbers. Let's wise up! They are infiltrating us with one goal in mind . . . to wipe us off the face of the earth! This all is really depressing.

I must agree that this is a disgusting poem and I didn't even waste my time visiting the website. To be "ticked" off because "refugees" (and allegedly abusing) welfare benefits is a total waste of energy. Especially when there are so many Americans doing the exact same thing, getting away with it, and laughing at the thought of ever getting off of welfare. People are crazy if they think that immigrants are mesing up our "American Dream." The dream was mesed up when they got here and it will be messed up when they leave.

Those are the worse ones, Matt, because gullible folks who read this will listen just because she spits out a verse or two.
