Be sure to listen to the middle section about the "pandora's box" of the mess the DA's office was in when she got there. Interesting stuff.

I sure don't see how anyone can vote for Purvis or Smith after watching the WAPT debate. Faye gave the best answers, she sounded smarter than the other two, and she had real answers not just speculative solutions. Obviously, Smith thinks that Melton being brought before the Grand Jury so quick was unfair! He, and the small - yet vocal Meltonites, just don't get it? Who waxes his eyebrows? Why do I get a feeling he'd be a Edwards man?

I thought Michele was going to attack Robert when he told the truth about her experiece. She corrected with a lie, so how can we trust her. Her only platform is communication, I'm sure her and Melton would have just that since she owe him for the campaign contributions. She won't get my vote.

Surely Smith knows that an out of control Mayor needed to be stopped as soon as possible.

I wanted WAPT to ask the following question of the component, but I see for Robert it was not necessary, he would have closed his eyes to the facts of the case. Question: Since the fact of the case or now known; if you had been the DA would you have brought the Mayor before the Grand Jury for indictment for the Ridgeway incident?

What was the lie? Anybody do a transcript. We should post. I heard her say that she has prosecuted murders, aggravated assaults, etc. I thought she didn't according the the JFP cover story. BTW, the story is not showing up, but the comments are still there. Not sure why. I missed it. Is there a link to it? I heard Joyce Brewer say that final statements will be posted on WAPT.com after 8:00. I don't know about the actual mini-debate, as they called it.

What Smith (and probably Purvis) is missing is that the Mayor was drunk and he had minors with him. Subsequently, he directed those minors to destroy personal property among other crimes committed by Melton and his bodyguards. The position of the mayor and the accusations warranted a speedier trial. And, if he was a better defense attorney he would understand that a client like Melton doesn't need allegations, like Ridgeway, hanging over his term. It was imperative for the defense to have this case pushed through too. He supposedly has a job to do as Mayor? See the Sheriff and then the DA knew about all this "other stuff" that never made it to the press until the trial was ready to begin. Imagine how well Melton's case would have gone if the testimony of the ambulance driver and the UMC nurses had hit the press back in the Fall right after this happened? hic... I'll buy this hospitial tomorrow! hic....

Pikersam you are exactly right, the DA's office could not use this evidence. I'm just surprise that Purvis in her commercials shows her at church praying and is full of deception. I say go Faye handle your business, you know the law and don’t back down when the good ole boys bagger you. As long as you do what is right then right will follow you. Melton cannot get along with anyone that does not say yes when he ask. Don’t be a lap dog, you earned your law degree without his money, and on your own merit. Purvis and Smith they now owe Frank and will pay at the cost of the citizen; even the blind can see this. They want win!

Bjm, I wasn't talking about the actual trial. I feel that had the drunken ambulance ride, and the subsequent hospital episode, hit the papers within weeks of the incident it would have changed public perception a bit quicker. This may have led Melton to take Ed Peter's plea deal with Faye that was brewing at the time. Yet, the fact he was drunk, that he made threats in the ambulance, and that he was clearly drunk we "protected" from the press and the public till just before the trial when impact wouldn't affect the jury pool, or cause too much public outcry. Basically, there wouldn't have been a trial, and we would have saved a lot of time, money and heartache.

I feel that had the drunken ambulance ride, and the subsequent hospital episode, hit the papers within weeks of the incident it would have changed public perception a bit quicker. Then again, the public could have said, "Well, everybody makes mistakes." They would definitely have said that if they've never heard about him being drunk in public before.

Anyone see the Ledger do an actual story yet about Melton's support of Tyrone Lewis, which we proved? Why don't they? And now that they're suddenly so worried about what Melton and Anderson are trying to do to install their guy in the sheriff's office, are they also award that the mayor is trying to take over the district attorney's office? Do they care? I will go out on the limb early here and say that should Peterson and McMillin lose next week, The Clarion-Ledger is in no small part responsible. I don't think they understand the level of fire they're ignoring here.
