Democratic Insurance Commissioner candidate Gary Anderson signed a statement Monday pledging to refuse contributions from any insurance company, insurance company PAC or insurance company executive or corporate officer.
"It's about ethics," Anderson said. "An insurance commissioner oversees the insurance industry, and should never be too close to the industry he watchdogs."
Anderson said Dale has been taking too many campaign donations from the industry he's supposed to be overseeing, and his chumminess is manifest in his willingness to "approve every rate hike the industry comes to him with."
Anderson will face Democratic incumbent George Dale in the August primaries. The winner will face Republican candidate Sen. Mike Chaney in November.
Dale did not return calls to the JFP
