More features have been added to the official Web site, and I will meet with the members for the first time in June.
Go here to view the last thread.
wakeupjackson.org now has a forum, guestbook and list of Web sites necessary for research. I encourage everyone to go to the forum and share ideas and suggestions on how we can make Jacksonians aware of what's going on in city government, their civil rights under the law and the importance of protecting those rights. If you want to get involved behind the scenes, I suggest that you become a member of the Google group.
I also encourage everyone to stop by the Zazzle Web site and purchase a bumper sticker, T-shirt or whatever you want. The profits will go into a general fund that will help take care of expenses such as getting a P.O. box, printing pamphlets and paying IRS fees. If you would rather just send a donation, you can send one via Paypal to [encode][email protected][/encode], or you can send an email and I will give you a mailing address. Wake Up Jackson Civic Association is operating as a 501(c)(4) organization, so donations are NOT tax deductible.
There will be an informal meeting on Sunday, June 3rd, at the Metrocenter Food Court from 3:00 to 5:00. This will give members a chance to get to know each other, and interested parties can ask questions or make suggestions. I look forward to seeing you.

A special thanks to those who came to the meeting yesterday. I got to know a couple of new faces, and we got a little work done while I sipped my Sno Biz smoothie. (Too bad she forgot to remove all of the cherry stems when she blended everything together, but that's another story.)
