In recent TV ads, Gov. Haley Barbour feigns outrage at his opponent for suing the military as a trial attorney. Eaves responds in an e-mail and TV spot that indicates that Barbour isn't explaining why he sued the Pentagon:
Never in a million years did I think Barbour would attack me for standing up for our veterans. Unfortunately, his attack ads on TV criticizing me for suing the military only speak of half-truths. I'm not perfect, but I've dedicated my life to helping the powerless against the powerful. Our government's not always right, and yes I stood up to the Pentagon bureaucrats to get health care for our soldiers and to help widows and their children hurt by the federal government. I'm not afraid of standing up to the Goliaths of this world, and as Governor I'll continue to fight for what's right.

WAPT did a segment about Barbour's ad. They gave a pretty good explanation for everything. I can't find a link, though. I remember that one lawsuit had to do with uranium exposure, but the lawsuit was on behalf of servicemen. Another had to do with a gondola that broke and killed several people in Italy. He was paid by the Italians for that, not anyone in America. I don't remember what that case had to do with the military.

L.W. if i remember correctly, i think that U.S. jets clipped the gondola cables, leading to the deaths of individuals in the cable cars going up the mountain. I believe Eaves was the lawyer for some, if not all, of the family members of those who died on the lift.
