Is that even true?... that cirme is down? Crime has not been down since his time in office according to the stats released in the Clarion Ledger this summer. Did I miss something? Did something drastic happen with our saftey enforcers in the last couple of months that I am not aware of?

Absolutely nothing new in his press release. After crime goes up almost 100% in certain areas over the past two years, I don't think you should brag about a 10% decline over a month or two. Get us back to pre-Melton crime levels and you will have almost accomplished something!

So, if crime is down, why do you need another assistant chief. This should prove that Chief Anderson is doing a good job. frank melton, you are as full of sh!t as a Christmas turkey. Everytime something goes wrong (by his own doing) the bull crap starts flying from his mouth. We have heard enough. Those cranes and work details that are going on now are all the fruits of the LABOR of FORMER MAYOR HARVEY JOHNSON,JR. All of the ribbon cutting you have had, frank were from Johnson. Once the projects johnson developed/wrote grants for/negotiated are done, melton will be at the end of his line. Remember, economic development was not his forte'. He thought his job was crime fighting, only and being in an office being a "MAYOR" was a piece of cake and boring. REMEMBER?????????

if crime is down, then why won't the city release the stats? what's the time period in reference? maybe he's using the Bush method for counting iraq war casualties, like if u get shot in the front of the head, it counts, but if u get shot in the back of the head, it doesn't...

It's good news to know the mayor is quitely doing a marvelous job. When you can do that routinely without notice and fanfare you're really clicking.

What I wondering is who wrote that so-called 'release'. It's pathetic, to put it mildly.

Dear Lord, Kacy, you are right. I didn't even read the original press release until now. Its laughable. It might as well say "Stuff that don't suck so bad: Crime. Stuff that still sucks bad: Drugs But we be doing something 'bout it."

I saw Frank a few minutes ago. As we ate dinner together he started talking to me as if we were long and lost friends. He wanted to know what's up with the JFP bloggers. He said he reads the articles and commentaries every now and again, when he has a few spare minutes, and from what he gleans that I'm (Ray Carter) the only person who sees the good works he's doing and says some good things about him. He went on to say "when I'm not doing anything, they say I'm wortless and ain't worth a crap. Then when I do something remarkable like slowing down crime in Jackson or stopping crime over at Welsh's place, the Upper Level or at Bob's Sex Toy Shop, they git mad and say I did it wrong or poorly, doctored the numbers, or am lying. And when I write something of literary acclaim or scholarly, such as this, they say I can't write, spell or put a decent sentence together. Ray, I think they're play-hating on a playa over there. They don't like a pimp who gets down like I do. However, they cover my every move and blogs me more than they do the president of these United States." Finally, Frank said since he realized how big a star-child he is among us here, he started playing that Bonnie Raitt hit tune, "Let's Give them Something to talk About" and "There is no Business like Show Business" written by somebody whose name he can't recall. He then gave me a high five and said "don't hate the playa, hate the game. Tell your people they got 2 more years of seeing me and longer if I decide to roll like that."

You guys are on point - my teenage daughter could have written a better press release. That was horrible, no focus, poor sentence structure, etc. It's so embarrasing that something that poorly written would come from the Mayor's office of the capital. But then the website is a joke and embarrasing also, so what's new.

Ray Carter, you are "off your rocker." When frank comes to hit you in the head with a sledge hammer after recko and freko put you in handcuffs, don't say that I didn't try to warn you. Humor is probably the only medicine that will help up through these trying times. I am leaving for a week in Calif. So, don't think that I am divorcing the BLOG. Keep it real and I will be blogging you soon.

Don't worry to check in Justjess while on vacation. Frank will be alright and so will Jackson. Frank has 2 more years and he plans to do every day of them helping the citizens of Jackson. Can't nobody stop that, thought many have tried, and may try again in futility. We elected him and he plans to give us his all until the very end - 2 more years.

A long, long time ago, there was a horror movie called "The Stepford Wives," where all the wives in this one little northeastern suburban town of Stepford were replaced by robots so that they would do the bidding of their husbands without ever arguing or saying a bad word about them. It was, if I remember correctly, a response to the Women's Lib movement where we of the "weaker" sex shook off the stupor of the 50s and started having minds, careers and lives of our own. There was a pathetic comedy remake recently with Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler. The original was truly chilling...

That's a "press release"? What's the news? I'm not impressed. What's the story here? Goldia and crownies are being paid about $80K+ and this is the best we can get out of a press release? Frankie needs to throw a little more money at the PR machine. I'm not getting the point.

Again he says, "Don't hate the mayor. Hate the game." He's only as good as the game.
