College Football: USM Wins New Orleans Bowl

Southern Miss blocks a field goal in overtime, giving the Golden Eagles a 30-27 victory over Troy in the New Orleans Bowl. USM closed the season with five straight victories to finish its first season under coach Larry Fedora at 7-6.

The news was all good for USM: Star freshman receiver DeAndre Brown suffered a broken leg in the first quarter.

The Iggles sunk to a new low with those all-orange, er, neon-yaller "gold" uniforms. They should have had to give up all of their timeouts.

After seeing that, I just assumed USM changed its mascot to the Fightin' Yellow Jackets. Great ending to the game, though! ;-) - Todd
