Headline over at MSNBC: "Bush condemns noose displays President says displays 'have no place in America today.'" Thank you, Dubya Bush. Nice to see you go out on a limb there. Geez, Louise.

Well, considering we had the Jena incident and other similar incidents that aren't as well publicized, I think it is good he is taking an active role in getting the word out. That's a bit better than some politicians, including our own here in MS, have done.

I guess so. But NOW? Where the hell has he been the last several years? Sorry: I just can't get over his smirking self at the State of the Union address. What a mess he and his have made of this country.

I'm not disagreeing per say, I just saw it more as a non-story over an outrage.

I know. That was a just a quick rant on my blog. It just killed me to see that headline. It's so Baby Boomer, somehow. (Can you tell I've been reading about Generation Y, Generation Jones, and so on. I'm a Joneser, it seems. Me and Obama.)

Yes, it does seem that the nanny-state and babyboomer's go hand in hand. (see to booze or not to booze...lol) What was good for them isn't good for us.

Another funny headline, this one at the Ledger: Dozens rally against illegal immigration Dozens, huh? Seems the SuperTalk guys were up there spewing anti-immigrant rhetoric. Face it: They don't have facts on their side, and they don't give a damn.

Yeah, can you imagine what THAT crowd would be like to hang out with?!?
Of course, a couple have passed through here screaming about deporting anchor babies and yelping because they saw Latinos doing work in Belhaven. So we've been there. - Author

Ladd, Does this mean that you support illegal immigration? Are you saying that illegal immigration is okay? Will you support legislation that mandates illegal immigration should be the policy of the United States?

We've been down this road repeatedly on the site, Observer. The problem is that there is no good "yes" or "no" answer to any of those questions because we haven't taken the time to define what "illegal" immigration really is or should be. I support an intelligent overhaul of immigration policy that takes *facts*—not rhetoric—into consideration. Until then, it makes no sense to enforce the current policy, not that we are, or can. No, that doesn't mean opening the borders. In other words, we can't have this conversation on a flawed SuperTalk- Sean Hannity level and ever expect to see progress on it. Those guys don't care what lies they pass on in the spirit of sewing division against the "other."

Illegal immigration is fast becoming 'every brown person in America'. That's what is dangerous about this whole matter. Back in the so-called 'good ole days' all the big shot land owners just got together with the politicians in Washington and worked out deals to have large groups of immigrants shipped over 'legally'. Take the Mississippi Delta for example, Italians were brought there under false pretense. It was so bad that the Italian goverment stopped any further immigration to this part of the USA! Reason: living conditions and lies being told to the Italian goverment when they made inquiry. Ask Paul Gallo to dispute that!

This Country originally belonged to the Indians and we were the "Illigal Aliens" who invaded them, killed up a bunch of them, rounded those we didn't kill up and put them on resercvations. All of this too place AFTER they taught us how to plant corn, till the soil and smoke a peace pipe. My vote is to let the Indians decide.

I tried to find the best forum for this question. I am in an email discussion group and I informed them that I was a black Democrat. The following is the response I got. Will you all weigh in on what you think about what was said? "It wouldn't matter if I argued it or not. I happen to think Democrats are much more racist and I am amazed that so many black people vote for politicians that stand straight up and tell you that you are not good enough to make it without the government helping you. They tell you that you are so tender and unable to care for yourself, you have to have the government protect you. They tell black people (not you in general) that if they are poor, they can not succeed without the governments' help. That's absurd. There are too many that have done it. Come on Alvin, aren't you tougher than that? I happen to think that most black people are tougher than that. I happen to think that you don't need the government to take care of you, if that's racist, so be it."

I would point this guy to Donna's column or post about whether American are Hostile to Knowledge or something like that. Go to the top right of the JFP front page. I probably would tell the ignorant fellow that he's full of shi1t but he probably already knows that or he's even dumber than I can imagine. I have never had a Democrat to tell me any of those things, directly or indirectly. Is he or she black, white school educated and a sucking booty republican, Goldenae?

She is a white female, but I am not sure of her educational background. I just found it odd that she thought black people thought that way and that Democrats believed that. I can be for government assisting people that need it and not advocate people depending on that.

Goldenae I've learned to be careful who I intereact with these days because ignorance is running rampant. The world is a place inundated with stupid people. I would have expected her to be light up stairs like that if she was born, raised and educated down south or anywhere republicans rule. For the last 7-8 years I guess that would be the U.S. Why are you surprised and is she worth trying to enlighten?

Ray, I can't say that I care so much to enlighten people, but I always want to know what people are thinking. I engage people in conversation and sooner or later, you will see what they really think about something. Another reason is I grew up around all black people. It was not an atmosphere of hating anyone, but just a lack of communication with whites. So, now that I can, I love to converse with all types of people an see how we interpret life in different ways or how we see it the same.

Goldenae all I can say after passing 50 years of age is that I try very hard not to stereotype people. Nontheless I see little that doesn't fit a sterotype of past known and proven conduct. Sure there is a better effort to disguise things these days, but if you look closely you may see what you have always seen or been told existed. All I can say to anybody is embrace the good you see and flee the other istuff, if you can, else be disappointed, shocked, dismayed, angry, annoyed, hurt, etc. But if you think the person is alright and just needs enlightening to the truth maybe you should try doing so. Once I try these to no avail, I then treat them as if they don't exist. I act like I can't see or hear them any more.
