Melton At Home; McLemore Still Acting Mayor

[Verbatim from city] Mayor Frank E. Melton will hold a 10:00 a.m. press conference at City Hall on Monday, January 14, 2008 to discuss his recent surgical procedure. In the interim, the Mayor again extends his appreciation to the public for their outpouring of concern and interest on his behalf.

In addition, Mayor Melton wishes to express his sincere thanks to Dr. Malcolm Taylor and his entire medical team, as well as Dr. David H. Mulholland, former head of the Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology for the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the staff at St. Dominic Hospital for the world-class care and service that they have provided this week.

Dr. Leslie B. McLemore will continue to oversee City business until the Mayor returns to work.

Does anyone know why melton decided to use MS medical services re to his heart ths time around? I thought that he only trusted the MDs in Texas. I don't understand his need to hold a press conference about his surgery. Even for Presidents of the US, the information is usually given daily and the public is informed about the status. Maybe there is something else in his message scheduled for 10am today; like resigning and going back to Texas.

I watched WLBT, and from what I recall, the left ventricle of the mayor's heart is operating at 15% capacity, and his problems are also stress-related. He plans to relieve stress by giving swimming lessons at Jackson State this summer. There's no link on WLBT's page yet.
