Winter Wednesdays in February

Here and Now: the Missississippi Improv Alliance

I wanted to bring your attention to something cool going on in the month of February, brought to you by the Jackson Arts Collective. Here is the press release I received:

Winter Wednesday Series

The Mississippi Improv Alliance and the Jackson Arts Collective are bringing together a variety of musicians, dancers, digital media artists and vocalists in a series of spontaneous creative improvisations. Each Wednesday in February, a different mix of artists will present unscripted performances to explore interconnection and synchronicity. The purpose is to present a stream-of-consciousness exercise in listening and reaction to inspire the audience to reflect and assert anew each moment in their everyday lives. Audience participation is welcomed.

Performers for the series include Roy Adkins, members of the Belhaven Dance Department, Chris Alford, the Blaque Butterfly, Bruce Golden, Daniel Guaqueta, daniel johnson, dj DYVRS, Michael Morrison, Cynthia Newland, Kenny Richardson, Skipp Coon, Stephen Smith, Tyler Tadlock, Vision, William Thompson, Jarad Wilson, Jamie Weems, Walter Young and others.

Feb. 6th 7-9pm @ Belhaven College Bitsy Irby Bldg.

Feb. 13th 7-9pm @ Studio 121 in the Millsaps Arts District

Feb. 20th 8-10pm @ Rainbow Cooperative in Fondren

Feb. 27th 8-10pm @ Seven Studioz in the Millsaps Arts District

All performances will be free but we will be taking donations at the door for the Jackson Arts Collective to go toward the creation of their website. The Collective is a professional, social, and educational networking organization for creatives in the Greater Jackson Area. The Collective's current focus is on the creation of a website focused on news and events of Collective members as well as informational resources for the working artist.

Please come out and join us for this exciting multi-discipline event! The Jackson Arts Collective is dedicated to bringing the various creative elements of our community together in order to enrich the creative efforts of Greater Jackson artists as well as our city culture at large!
