Go fetch me some coffee. Make sure you pick up my dry cleaning. I was going to be doing all work and no play, and no pay, was my first thought when I heard I was going to be interning at JFP. My second thought was OMG I have no journalism experience. Well, I was right about the no pay part. Even so, I am gaining a lot of experience that will help fatten my wallet later.
The very moment Sage said I got the job was the very moment I became very nervous. I freaked about because the whole world of journalism was completely new to me, even the whole read a newspaper part. If it was not a fashion magazine or a book for school I wasn't interested.
This job has changed my life for the better. I now pick up issues of the paper and actually read articles instead of just heading for the Fly section, I have gotten to meet some great people that have introduced me to new things such as vegetarian food, and more of my extroverted side is starting to reemerge.
Being a Fly intern is awesome. I get to shop, take pictures, and make hundreds of phone calls a day. I am so glad that I am not just stapling documents all day. I am learning so much. Learning how to use MAC, learning another style of writing besides MLA, and not being shy when I meet new people are things that will help me even when I leave the wonderful world of Jackson Free Press. It's so great to be Fly!!!

Steph, I'm so glad you see the benefits and opportunities... We only grow when we can step outside our comfort zone, no matter how "old" we are.... you are doing a great job I'm sure....

She is doing a great job! I couldn't get through coordinating [FLY], the Chickball, and everything else without her! Thanks Stephanie :)
