Crossroads Film Society presents "Opera Jawa" and "Luxury Car" (which begins at 6:30 p.m. the same night) as part of the Global Film Festival, which brings films from around the world to audiences. With lush colors, interesting camera shots and Indonesian music as a backdrop, Opera Jawa tells the vivid story of cat and mouse as Siti (Artika Sari Devi) tries to resist the advances of Ludiro (Eko Supriyanto) after Siti's husband leaves town. The film is filled with dancing, beautiful scenery and dreamy sequences. Indonesian director Garin Nugroho bases the story on "The Abduction of Sita," which is an adaptation of the Hindu epic, "The Rayamana."
