The Jackson Free Press is a co-sponsor of the final debate party tonight in the Red Room at Hal & Mals. (Click here for info.) Join us to watch John McCain deliver on his threat to Barack Obama: "After I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," the Republican nominee told volunteers at his campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, sparking laughter and applause from the group."

McCain can't whip Obama's You Know What because Obama is smart enough to know that tonight is like the night of his acceptance speech. He needs to keep hitting home runs until this election is over with becauase as soon as he hits a single or worse get a strike against him the pundits will say I told you those home runs and multiple base hits were flukes. Anywa, I gotta watch it at the house to keep anyone from hearing me cussing. The comments make me laught too.

You know, this has been bugging since I first heard it. Isn't there something, oh, Carroll County plantation owner-esque about McCain saying out loud that he is going "whip" his opponent's "you-know-what." At best, it's remarkably condescending. At worst, well ... It just feels to me like McCain got a little too much Carroll County in him for his own good. I think that he can't *stand* that Barack Obama dares to challenge him, and look to beat him handily. And that is why I think he will not do well in tonight's debate. He can't stand to look at Obama, or shake his hand. At this point, McCain creeps me out. Didn't use to. But then again, neither did Bill Clinton. And he does now, too.

Nothing Carroll County platation owner-esque (whatever that is) about him saying he was going to kick his ass. Pretty much normal for one man to say referring to defeating another man.

um, yeah, not in national politics, I don't think. Think about it - using the word "whip" in this context is, well, hmmmm, a little racially insensitive? I think Donna's right about McCain, though I wish she weren't. I will be glad when all of this is over, though I will really freak if Palin becomes the president. I will really really freak.

Well, I've never heard a presidential candidate say that about the other nominee. There's usually a certain decorum on this level (before the choice of Palin, that is; she's bringing out the worst in many men, and women, for that matter). And at best, it was definitely racially insensitive in a huge way. Obama would never point that out, but this white girl from Mississippi certainly will. So will Izzy.

I don't think Obama would have pointed it out because he probably took as it was, that McCain thinks he is going to soundly win the debate. I think Obama isn't looking for racial overtones to every comment, speech, political ad that the Rep. are making and trying to make something out of nothing.

The problem, Bubba, is that almost everything out of McCain and especially Palin's mouths in the last 10 days about Obama has racial undertones, or even overtones. There is no reason to think that declaring that he is going to "whip" his opponent is any different. He should speak before he speaks. The scary part is that perhaps he is. The creep factor with that duo gets worse by the day. I really, really hope he attacks Obama tonight.

I have told prosecutors countless times i'm going to whip their butts while most lawyers would never do so. I'm supposed to be crazy though. Ombama just told Katie Couric that he's even reluctant to pick his nose in public for fear that people is watching and will judge him wrongly. Obama recognizes the scrutiny he's under and the microscope that allows no errors for him. Three more weeks and he'll finally be relieved to be human again for a few moments.

My granaddaddy didn't own slaves and no one was looking when I made the comments, i. e the media and voters or a jury. I wouldn't have done it if I knew I were under a microscope and running for a grand office with jurors, voters or decision-makers looking on. I wouldn't have been that arrogant or dumb under those cicumstances.

Bubba, my great-niece and great-nephew don't call me Great Aunt Donna, either. I assume everyone is familiar enough with the McCain family legacy in Mississippi to understand the reference. If not, click here to catch up. The point here is that a candidate for the presidency whose family owned slaves ought to have common horse sense enough not to go around threatening to "whip" his African American opponent. It's crass and classless, at best.

OK, Repubs, the hatefulness needs to end right here and now. And you good Republicans have got to kick these people out of your party and start over. It's too ugly for words: Top GOP Figure Circulates Joke About Assassinating Obama: Al Austin, a veteran, high-level Republican fundraiser from Tampa, today sent an email to his list of his political contacts containing a joke that refers to the assassination of Barack Obama. When asked about the email, Austin said it was a mistake and apologized, and that he wouldn't knowingly have circulated it. He said he intended to send an apology and retraction to the same email list. Austin said he forwarded the email to a list of his politicaly contacts without fully reading it. The joke concerns a group of school children discussing the definition of "tragedy," as opposed to "great loss" or "accident." The punch line comes when one child says that if an airplane carrying Obama and his wife, Michelle, "was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens," the event might be a tragedy, "because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss, and it probably wouldn't be an accident either."

If the violence against Obama that they keep wishing for comes true, then we will really see the world lose confidence in this country and the foreign money that is keeping us afloat would probably flow to safer, saner environments. This is not how sane, rational people express a love for America.
