Jennifer Hudson, former American Idol contestant and "Dreamgirls" star, is dealing with the murders of her mother and brother as well as the abduction of her 7-year-old nephew. I wouldn't wish what she is going through on my worst enemy. I can in no way say that I understand her situation since I've never through anything close to this, but my heart goes out to Hudson and her sister, Julia Balfour. I pray that they will find peace in their time of sadness, and I pray that little Julian King will be found safe and sound and returned to his mother.

golden, I just read the article. Police had not confirmed that it's Julian's body; they're probably waiting for the mother to ID it. How tragic.

I hope they'll continue to take a close look at the boy's stepfather: Police confirm they have taken a person into custody but are not saying who it is. News reports, however, say that person is Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour. Balfour's mother has also acknowledged her son has been questioned about the shootings. Chicago news station WLS reported Saturday that Julian was not with Balfour when he was detained. Police say they have transferred the person in custody to the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation. According to the Department of Corrections, Balfour, 27, is on parole. He spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle.

Please forgive me but, I'm wondering what responsible mother (Jennifer's sister) could have a relationship with such a dead-beat. This step-father was just released from prison in May. He has a parole violation, was convicted of high-jacking and attempted murder; a known drug dealer/abuser. He could not be the murderer; however, he has enough negative history for the sister to have known that he did not need to be exposed to the mother or her son. I know that we can not prevent all acts of violence and that criminal acts are a part of life and living. I do believe that if you wallow with hogs, you will get dirty. My heart bleeds for Jennifer!

Everybody needs love and satisfaction, Jess. Songs have been written about the inability to get any satisfaction. See Rolling Stones. Satisfaction is often found with strange bedfellows, so they say. Criminals have the best rap as a result of the most time to hone their skills. Also, commonly, prisoners have the fewest miles on them unless they cross over while in prison. Essentially, prisoners make fresh lovers with the fewest miles expended. Kind of like a teacher getting a student except the student is grown here, willing and able and won't tell anybody - a teacher's dream. My heart goes out to Jennifer too. Losing family members in this way is so tragic. I hope the authorities hang the person who did this unless some of my friends are appointed to represent him. Then I hope he gets life in prison without parole.

Similarly, Jess, Serena and Venus lost a sister a few years back while the sister was hanging around with questionable characters, so they say. Jess, I asked one of my neices and her friends why they like drug dealers or brothers who shunned high school, college and conventional jobs. They said because they're exciting and had lots of money which they got easily and will spend just as quickly. This also says something about the greed, foreward looking and acumen of the females. I think it more than that though. College boys talk funny, read too much and don't know enough street language and protocol to make a girl feel satisfied and safe. This makes the college boys boring. The average girl believes she can whip the average college educated boy. Think about this? If you walked down a dark alley way with a college educated boy, a drug dealer or common thug and something broke out, who would run first. The college boy would run over both of you.

Some of these type of men can be very charming and very manipulative at the same time. And if she did know another point: Some of these types of men can also convince women that they have "changed," and the women believe them. Like Walt says everyone does need love and satisfaction and some people may try to overlook someone's "faults" in order to give them a chance and give themselves a chance at a relationship. This is truly a sad and tragic story. my prayers go out to Jennifer and her family.

MsJanuary, "Just a question: how do We know that her sister knew these things?...." Apparently this man had quite a negative history in Jennifer's mom's home. According to reports, the mom put him out. It is hard to believe that the woman didn't know something. Her mother did. If we want to save lives and protect ourselves, we must stop using these excuses "in order to give them a chance and give themselves a chance at a relationship." It is better to "be alone than in bad company." This type of Co-Dependency from women just won't get it. Walt, I'm familiar with the "Bad Boy" syndrome. More often than not these relationships lead to "Bad Girl" consequences.

Hudson's nephew shot multiple times as revealed by the autopsy. If I were the officer who apprehended the killer I'd drive him by Revern Cut Your Nuts' house before taking him on to the precinct a couple of pounds ligher.

Not to jump to conclusions, but it sure sounds domestic. A stranger isn't likely to have shot that little boy multiple times. :-( Bless their hearts.
