In a campaign cycle getting more ridiculous by the moment, Obama supporters are fighting back against the McCain-Palin supporters who are boycotting Oprah because she said she isn't inviting Palin on her (optimum word there) show until after the election. The following e-mail came today:
Subject: FW: Watch OPRAH!
The Republican National Committee women are planning to boycott Oprah's show; beginning Monday, Sept. 8, to try and force her to put Sarah Palin on her show. They say since she had Obama on, she should put Palin on. Even if you don't watch Oprah or don't agree with some of her views, we have to pull together on this. Watch Oprah every day for the next two weeks or as long as they boycott. If you can't watch it in person, set your DVR's or whatever and record it. We need to help Oprah keep her ratings up while they are boycotting. Please resend this to all in your e-mail list.

These Republicans have tantrums worse than a two-year old. My twelve-day old nephew isn't even this cranky.

Go Oprah! Show us that you're from Kos-zes-ko and you're not taking any beatings from Mrs. Anne, Harpo or any mo' folks, unnecessarily. Walk that cornfield, girl; we got your back. Tell Mrs. Anne nem you're rich and they can kiss your entire booty. You know they say we all have plenty of that. Smile.

This is a joke - since when is Oprah's show supposed to be "balanced news" - ha ha ha. As if the news were balanced anyway. what a crock. These people, they can't get it through their heads that they don't get to spout abusive, ignorant rhetoric (not to mention outright lies) on any public platform they choose. It's such the voice of privledge speaking.

So, "liberated women" are now using Oprah as a litmus test for how powerful we have become. This is a definite dichotomy: Opra has done all of the things recommended to become a successful business woman. She has stated emphatically, "MY SHOW WILL NOT BECOME A PLATFORM FOR POLITICS.' Now that she refuses to take orders from a group, (mostly women this time around) they have threatened to boycott her show. This is the worst kind of abuse. In other words, the unspoken message is: Oprah, You can do what you want to do as long as you do what WE SAY. What are these women thinking?? An oppressor is an oppressor: It matters not the gender or the color.

What a stupid controversy. Trying to force Oprah to have Palin on her show is just...well, stupid.
