Sunday: Neighborhood Association Solutions Meeting

[verbatim] The Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff's Department, and Leadership Greater Jackson (2009), will host "Neighborhood Association Solutions Meeting" on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Clarion Ledger Community Room, 201 South Congress Street, Jackson, Mississippi. The event is free, and all Metro area residents are encouraged to attend.

The event will include presentations by Police Chief Tyrone L. Lewis, Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm E. McMillin, and local neighborhood association leaders, including Hezekiah Watkins and Renee Shakespeare. Additionally, a "Solutions Manual" to provide information and tools to help neighborhoods organize and advocate for their wellbeing will be unveiled during the event, and copies will be available for those in attendance.

Neighborhood associations are vital to the encouragement and facilitation of community action to improve neighborhoods and to reduce crime. The purpose of the Solutions Meeting is to inform Metro Area residents of how to enhance these important associations, to share success stories, and to outline crime prevention solutions.
