Rosie is waiting for a home.

I was walking this morning in Fondren when it came to me I could spotlight a homeless dog a day for 365 days just like Julie did on her blog with recipes from the Joy of Cooking. The sad part is that there are 365 dogs that need homes in the Hinds County area and I probably wouldn't be diligent enough to blog every day.

It was a good thought though. Today I want to spotlight Rosie who is currently at the Mississippi Animal Rescue League. My friend Linda who is a volunteer at MARL told me Rosie's story. She was brought to the League by her owner when his wife was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her owner and his wife were moving out of state and could not take Rosie with them.

She is a very spunky dog and has a great personality. She loves people and would make a great companion. She has thick hair that would require some brushing. I have discovered that brushing a dog can be a very Zen experience and we both get a lot out of it. Rosie is up to date on her routine shots.

As I sit at my computer writing this blog Duncan my little Westie is at my feet. He is now 12 years old which translates to very old in people years. He is getting hard of hearing and a little stiff when he tries to jump on the couch. I have so many wonderful memories surrounding this little dog. I did find out that he doesn't know how to dial 911 when I fell off a ladder while cleaning out gutters. He looked disturbed that I was on the ground groaning but seemed completely unaware of how to dial a cell phone. The buttons are small and his eyesight is not what it used to be.
