The annual Brett Favre retirement watch has begun. The New York Jets have reportedly given the diva quarterback until the end of February to decide whether he wants to return or retire. Newsday reports that the Southern Miss legend is not popular with his teammates.
"There was a lot of resentment in the room about him," an unnamed Jets player told the Long Island newspaper. "He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone."
Favre also reportedly didn't get along with Jets coach Eric Mangini, who was fired on Monday. The Jets started the season 8-3 before losing four of their last five games and missing the playoffs. Favre looked very old down the stretch, reverting to his interception-machine ways.
"Eric," the Jets player said, "wasn't the reason we didn't make the playoffs."
