MLK Day was extra special to me yesterday because of the upcoming inauguration. It felt like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day and my birthday all rolled up in one. The only thing missing was turkey and dressing on the table. If I felt that good yesterday, I may explode today!

I'm so excited! I just realized all this is going on in EST, so I will get to see everything! I have to go out of town this afternoon and so I thought I wouldn't get to see it, but I'm watching on TV right now! :)

It is hard to imagine anyone other than Obama who has the abilities needed to lead this country at this time. I feel like we elected Superman.

It's so nice to see a website used in this way. There is a lot of information and strategy built into it.

Jennifer- you elected a man, not Superman. He's a politician just like all the rest of the men who have been President. He will probably let you down just like all the rest. He said and made promises that you wanted to hear during the campaign, just like any other politician does to get elected. He might turn out to be a good President but don't think he can do everything he has said because you are going to be sorely disappointed. Wish him luck, cause he's gonna need it,more than any President we have ever had.

Well, I was gonna write that he's preternaturally confident but it seemed slightly pretentious which, I guess, was confirmed when I heard George Will say the exact same thing 30 minutes later on ABC. (Great, George Will is reading my mind). But that's what I mean - he exudes a confidence that is unbelievable. At the same time, his speech was all about returning to the values that made this country great, hard work, self sacrifice, etc. He's not promising anyone that these will be easy times for Americans.

Did y'all hear about Sen. Ted Kennedy collapsing during Obama's luncheon? He had a seizure, and he was taken away by paramedics. CNN says Sen. Robert Byrd also had health issues, but they didn't say what.

ABC national news notes a few different things -- one, that the there have been NO inauguration-related arrests by any law enforcement (according to the Secret Service), despite the record crowds estimated at 1.6 million. (I was at Bush's first inauguration and it was a different scene.) Second, Ted Kennedy is supposed to be in good shape; doctors say they think his episode was due to exhaustion and that he'll leave the hospital tomorrow.

I love it when Obama said something about us extending our hand when our enemies unclinch their fists. Good one! I also loved watching Bush leave on the helicopter.

Brian, I liked that quote, too, it was really the money quote. I love that he speaks to what we have been given from those who came before, and what we must endeavor to leave for future generations!!!! I love that. It's the time for that sort of thinking.
