Jackson police are reaching out to postal carriers, among others, in response to a spate of home invasions in Northeast Jackson. Precinct 4 reported two home invasions last week on Meadowbrook Road and Poplar Boulevard. Police believe the two incidents are connected to two earlier robberies in April and May, on Meadowbrook and Roberts Drive, also in Precinct 4.
Precinct 4 Commander Ken Goodrum told JPD command staff this morning that his precinct was cooperating with the department's mobile precinct and its street level narcotics team to "saturate" the Eastover and Belhaven neighborhoods with officers. Goodrum also said that his precinct has contacted post offices to enlist the help of postal carriers in identifying suspicious activity. He is also seeking help from Entergy and other utility companies to alert their technicians.
Home invasion, while a commonly used term, is not a category of crime. A suspect in these incidents would be charged with burglary and/or armed robbery, Goodrum said.

Sounds like a great idea to pull together the eyes of the workers who are in the neighborhoods during the day. I hope they catch this guy soon. If he's smart, he'll stay at home.
